Beaver Hockey Training Battalion

05/10/2012, 8:31am (CDT)
By Bert Gilling BSU Asst Coach Mens Hockey

OFF-ICE STRENGTH & CONDITIONING

This is a quick notification that the registration for this summer’s Training Battalion at the BSU workroom in the Sanford Center  is currently open.  Thank you to those of you who have already submitted the registration form, waiver and payment. The registration window will close next week.  The morning session is full but there are still spots available for the afternoon session.  Attached are the required forms and information to get registered.  Please get them in soon.

Just a reminder that this camp is open to all High School Eligible boys hockey players for the 2012-13 season.  Last year’s camp was an overwhelming success when you consider the improvements made in the following areas by the 35 camp participants:

Average leg strength increased by 61% (153lbs to 247lbs) from the start of training to the end.
Average upper body strength increased by 21% (126 lbs to 155lbs)
Lower body power increased by 19% (Vert Jump, Long Jump and Log Jump).

Of course the results are only a part of what the program is about.  Ultimately we are trying to promote fitness, health and wellness in a hockey specific program and environment.   We hope that the experiences gained by all participants will not only help them on the ice but will encourage them to live healthy lifestyles off the ice as well.

Thank you,
Bert Gilling

Reebok Minnesota Hockey High Performance Program Info Announced

01/02/2012, 8:30am (CST)
By Minnesota Hockey

Boys & Girls Ages 15-18

The Reebok Minnesota Hockey High Performance Programs are comprehensive programs that identify and develop the top 15-18 year old hockey players in Minnesota.  The programs are widely regarded as the premier way for a hockey player in Minnesota to be noticed outside of the winter hockey season. Select players will have the opportunity to advance on to USA Hockey national camps. Programs begin in March and run through the summer.

Minnesota Player Identification Opportunities Expanded
Minnesota Hockey (MH) offers the USA Hockey (USAH) Select/Advanced 15, 16, and 17 programs to our top players from the state.

In Minnesota Only: these "Select" programs have been renamed "High Performance" 15, 16, 17. In all the other areas of the USA, including USA Hockey, the "Select" name is retained for USAH National Festivals.

The MH/USA Hockey Advanced (Select) 15, 16 and 17  programs are designed to identify the best players in Minnesota and to provide the top players from each district a chance to play with and against the best players in the state. At the conclusion of the Minnesota Advance programs at each level our top 20-25 players represent Minnesota Hockey at a national festival/camp sponsored by USA Hockey involving the best players from each of the USAH districts. The national festivals/camps are used by USAH to identify the top performers in each age group for possible opportunities to represent the U.S.A. at advanced levels of national and international hockey competition.

A Word about Fees:
All of our camps and programs are budgeted to break even as Minnesota Hockey is a non- profit organization. There is a participant fee charged at each level to cover the costs of operating the program. The fees are determined each year to reflect the current costs.http://www.minnesotahockey.org/page/show/86082-reebok-high-performance.
