Regular Season
Welcome to the Bemidji Youth Hockey family and the 2025-2025 hockey season!
We are thrilled that you and your family have chosen BYHA. We are passionate about all things hockey and are continually working to improve and be better each season. This season we will be focused on communication, transparency, and taking our association to the next level.
Last July we hired a hockey director, Dillon Eichstadt. He will continue to lead us with his knowledge and expertise as we grow our association. He has been hard at work since taking on his position. He can be reached at deichstadt@bemidjiyouthhockey.org
In exciting news you might have noticed, we have migrated the BYHA website to the Crossbar platform. We will no longer be using SportsEngine. Please sign up with CrossBar and download the Crossbar App for the upcoming season. CrossBar is exclusively built for hockey organizations, and everyone who works there is from a hockey background. The result is a more hockey-tailored platform experience. We believe this will be a great improvement to our hockey lives, but there will be some bumps along the way so your patience is appreciated! If you have any questions at all or encounter any questions please reach out to a board member or Dillon and we will help. Be sure to sign up for an account, and once registration is fully complete we will fully migrate over to CrossBar to communicate for the season. Until then we will continue to use SportsEngine so fear not, you won’t be left behind!
Fundraising
Each player will be responsible for selling twenty raffle tickets at $20.00 each in order to participate (family maximum of 40 raffle tickets). You can write your own name on them to purchase them if you choose, but each player will be required to participate.
Mites/Termites/8U/6U
For those new to hockey with a young child, be sure you attend the parent meeting before the season to get up to speed with BYHA. If you have questions about what equipment to wear, what age group to attend, or anything else you can get a lot of the answers on our BYHA website under the resources tab, New to Hockey section or FAQ's.
DIBS
Everyone will be required to turn in a $750 check for your DIBS volunteer hours at the start of the season at your player/parent meeting. If you complete your DIBS, the check will be shredded at the end of the year. Our goal is to have 100% participation in our volunteer/DIBS program and not have to cash any checks. Just a heads up, our DIBS amount this year is still being determined. More information will be provided when we determine the number of volunteers we need. Expect about the same amount as last season (around 10 shifts). Note that in CrossBar they use the word HOURS instead of DIBS. So you might see you will be assigned 10 HOURS per child when you register, which equals 10 DIBS. Our hockey family is awesome and it takes a village!
Fees for the 2025-2026 season
In order to have accurate numbers to determine teams, ideally registration must be completed by September 1st. This will allow us to accurately predict the number of teams we will have playing at each level and to schedule games for those teams. A large portion of games are scheduled with opposing teams in early September. Each year we struggle as players register in October right before tryouts.
Registration fees will stay the same as last year except new to hockey (6u/8u, termite, mite) will be FREE.

Fall Kick Off and Fall Hockey
Fall kick off is scheduled for Sunday September 14th, come for some open skating, equipment swap, prizes, good food and fun with our hockey family! More info on that to follow but save the date.
We have a fantastic organization thanks to the work of all of you and most importantly, our players. Let’s make this our best season yet!
Fall Hockey - BYHA will be running two fall hockey sessions, 1 (September 2nd-September 21st) and 2 (September 28th-Tryouts). Fall Hockey sessions 1 and 2 will be run by BYHA, lead by our hockey director Dillon. He will be introducing PEP. “Reactive Countering Training™ focuses on simultaneous skill development, combining Reactive Puck Placement™, tactical puck touches, separation speed, and rapid hand-foot coordination. It equips players to counter defenders in tight spaces and gain prime scoring positions—skills essential in real-game situations.”
The BHS Boys and Girls Coaching staff and players will be running a camp-style mini session in between the BYHA fall sessions, those dates will be September 22nd, 23rd and 25th. We will send out more information on that mini camp session as well, we are excited to partner with our BHS players and coaches!
See you at the Rink!
