Interested in giving back to the sport of hockey and becoming a ref? Follow the steps below:

STEPS TO BECOME A REFEREE

1. Go to USA Hockey and register as an official. You will need a separate USA Hockey Number for officiating.
2. Complete Safesport if it applies to you - (if you will be 18 or are 18 or older.)
3. Register for the appropriate level seminar and attend seminar. If you have never officiated before, this will be a level 1. If you officiated in the past, but have not for several years, you may need to start at level 1. Seminars are offered online.
4. Complete online modules.
5. Take and pass your Officiating Test 

NEW THIS YEAR. BYHA will be using a referee scheduling platform called HorizonWebRef. Please download the app with this link.  https://horizonwebref.com/getStarted

After you have created your free profile you will be able to set your availability and view upcoming games to referee. The app will also be used to communicate cancellations and upcoming referee needs.
