PWB Tournament Weekend Note

Coaches and Managers,

We’re looking forward to hosting everyone for the PWB Tournament February 6-8. We have 16 teams coming and its mostly metro teams. I know it sucks to drive 220 miles to play a neighbor, but not everyone can play Bemidji and Rock Ridge. Sorry!

Also, BYHA has been battling mechanicals issue at our "Nymore Gardens" so there won't be any games there, everything will be at the Bemidji Community Arena (1st National Arena and Sanford Health Rink).

Please note that the Sanford Health Rink is not the Sanford Center.

Tournament Format

• Teams start in one of eight "pools", which aren't really pools but that is the best way to organize it in the software we use. I tried to keep teams from the same district away from each other.
• Teams will play a play-in game on Friday afternoon.
• After Friday’s "pool" games, teams will be placed into two separate eight-team brackets based on results (Pool Play winners to one bracket, losing teams to another). Four of the teams will play a second game Friday evening, that starts the first round of bracket play.
• Those brackets will play out over the rest of the weekend, creating two competitive divisions.
• Every team will play four games total between Friday and Sunday.
• Regulation will be 15 minute periods with a resurface between games. We don't use a "rink" clock, the game will end when the game clock buzzes. With that, sometimes our rinks get a few minutes behind at the end of the day with OTs, shootouts, etc. To keep things running on time, you may be asked to start a few minutes early.
• All games will require a winner and a loser. We will be using our standard overtime format for any tied games.

We appreciate everyone making the trip and participating in this year’s tournament. Our PWB Tournament routinely has many good teams, so get ready for a competitive weekend!
